The Lotus War (February 12, 1809 – October 26, 1813; also known as the Tennaiite Civil War) was a civil war in Tennai between the Maharanideva (those loyal to Maharani Asmena) and several other factions such as the Alliance of Northern Nayaks. The central causes of the war were the ascenson of the highly unpopular daughter of {}, Asmena to the Tennaiite throne, a string of very unpopular new laws and decrees early in Asmena's reign, and the harsh crackdowns and retaliations of Maharani {} against the percieved disloyalty of certain nayaks and other elements of Tennaiite society.
