The Yoloten

Head of State stuff

- Couple of "royal clans" exist within the country, basically some sort of either formal/semi or informal system in which the next Khan is taken from the heads of these clans. Sort of an elective monarchy, not a federal monarchy.
- Royal clan in power is the Khan until ??? (either death, or, fairly lengthy time [20 yrs?]). Royal clans not in power still important, still function as regional leaders albeit subordinate to the Khan.
- Obvs some issues here, royal clans not in power want to be the khan while the clan as Khan doesn't want to give up power. Historically some issues w/ succession?? Sorta chilled out over the years
- The alternative style is: One de-facto clan who will be and always be the Khan, other clan leaders form the council and elect who the next Khan will be. The other non-royal clan leaders (Noyans? Beys?) still function as important, heredity governors of the country.

interior stuff

- solar power imitative, distributing subsidized solar panels to nomadic herders so they can access the internet/mobile phones, etc. Creation of rural jobs based around fixing/repairing these solar panels in the smaller village centers of the country

Administrative divisions

Gushgy - northern region, on the border w/ Zorasan. Comes from the persian word kushk which refers to mountain forts
Durbylan/Dorbylan - area along Lake Zinarud, Ossetian for "stony beach" w/ persian suffix attatched

History

Pre Aguda Empire rambles

EastHacyinia has pretty much always been the most developed part of Hacyinia. Situated on the shores of Lake Zinarud, able to access numerous cultures and trade routes - it has been regarded as the "crown jewel" of the Eastern Great Steppe. Pretty much all of the steppe based nomads in the east rules from the capital of Dabulug after conquering it from the last guy.

Aguda Empire

Much of Hacyinia was under the de jure rule of the Aguda Empire, however the Aguda Empire struggled to enforce it's rule in much of WestHacyinia. Aguda Empire utilized extensively a policy of increasingly autonomous rule for EastHacyinia.
- EastHacyinia followed a similar trajectory of the Beylik of Tunis.

Colonization

Gaullica took over much of EastHacyinia, the more developed/wealthier part of the country. International agreements by major Euclean powers were basically "we do not care about WestHacyinia, leave it as a buffer between all of us."
- WestHacyinia was the Khanates of the Caucasus for an extensive period of time, divided into numerous smaller khanates/beyliks with at times shifting allegiances or protectorate status with the larger euclean powers nearby
- EastHacyinia, especially due to the discovery of massive oil deposits there, experienced alot of industrial development/investment from the Gaullicans.

National Awakening

Development of a unified, national consciousness developed early 1900s between WestHacyinia and EastHacyinia. Belief that the eastern great steppe is one people, one region, one nation. Developed primarily in EastHacyinia as the result of cultural contacts w/ Euclean ideas, spread into the disunited smaller states of WestHacyinia over time. Really more of an elite centric thing but became easily spread due to tendency of Khanate elites/EastHacyinian elites to send their children to prestigious Euclean schools
- Early Malay nationalism is an appro IRL example? maybe? gotta look into it more

Unification

With the Euclean withdraw from the region in the 1940, concern amongst the newly independent EastHacyinia and the smaller khanates of WestHacyinia arose. Now surrounded by much larger states (some of them socialist!), most realized that there would be an inability for any of them to survive/thrive without collusion. Spearheaded by EastHacyinia, led to the union of Hacyinia within the year.
