Lensk, officially the Lenskayan Federation (Yakutian: Ленскэй федерация, Ludic: Ленская федерация, Lenskaya Federatsiya) is a transcontinental country spanning Eastern Belisaria and Northern Ochran with a population of 112 million. Lensk, located in the republic's Belisarian region, is its capital. The republic's eastern regions in Ochran has a reputation for an extreme and severe climate, with the lowest temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere being recorded in Bazkovskaya, and regular winter averages commonly dipping below −35 °C (−31 °F) in Pokrovsk. The hypercontinental tendencies also result in warm summers for much of the republic. Almost two-thirds of Sakhans are located in the Belisarian regions of the country.
The regions were historically part of x nation starting from 1765, until a violent war for its independence in 1985. The first president, Nergui Kuzmin, began to violently put down separatist rebellions in the eastern regions. Kuzmin led the country to economic prosperity with the discovery of oil deposits in the eastern Ochran regions following the defeat of the Tungus separatists. After Kuzmin's death in 2000, the election of President Fyodor Nikolayev has dominated Sakha's political system. While Nikolayev led the country's modernization efforts, his tenue has led to further democratic backsliding, suppression of independent media and curtailing of civil rights.
The eastern regions of Sakha is resource rich, with industries such as mining, logging, and oil exports representing 60% of the country's Gross National Product.
