Constitution |
The politics of Guadajara functions within the framework of a federal semi-presidential republic under a Constitution.
Executive power is exercised by the President of Guadajara and the Cabinet. The Cabinet consists of the Prime Minister and their ministers, all appointed by the President, and responsible to the National Assembly. The Cabinet, including the Prime Minister, can be revoked by the National Assembly through a "censure motion".
The legislative branch, the National Assembly, consists of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.
Executive branch
President
The President of Guadajara is the head of state and government of the Republic of Guadajara, elected by direct, secret and universal suffrage for a five-year term, and can serve maximum of two terms consecutively.
The President serves as the commander-in-chief, appoints most government officials, including the Cabinet, oversees foreign and security policy, addresses political problems of foreign and domestic affairs, proclaims states of emergency, considers the laws adopted by the National Assembly, and performs other duties specified in the Constitution.
