Emesia, officially the Republic of Emesia, is a sovereign state and baseline human polity located in the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way's Beta Quadrant. It is one of the largest polities in its immediate region of the Milky Way Galaxy, and a notable regional power. Emesia is a densely populated country, with a population of over 430 billion citizens living in 31 inhabited star systems. Communities of almost every Terran culture and many non-Terran cultures exist in Emesia, as well as a small population of nonhumans.

Beginning in the 2380s and extending up until 2528, the region of galactic space now occupied by Emesia was owned by a variety of corporations inhabiting Terra and some of its more populous and economically wealthy colonies, organized under the corporate Anulus Coordination Authority (ACA), who colonized what was then known as the Greater Zeta Anulus. The most prominent corporations represented in the Coordination Authority were the American ENB Apoikia and Japanese Ōkubo Group, which contributed the largest share of colonists and performed significant terraforming work across several of the ACA's star systems respectively.

Emesia is a federal parliamentary directoral republic, and has been ever since Emesia expanded to its current territorial borders in 2713. Its foundational legal document is the Federal Constitution, which was originally written in 2721 and most recently revised in 3067. The primary functions of the Federal Constitution are to establish which powers the federal government and Emesia's sector governments respectively possess, delineate the authority and jurisdiction of the federal government, and guarantee both individual and collective rights.

Religions
Christianity is the dominant religion in Emesia, with worshippers divided almost exclusively between three denominations; the Varronian Way (32.8% of the population), the Necostine Church (29.4%) and the Holy Vereningian Church (21.3%). Other religions, such as Islam and Hinduism are present in Emesia and are afforded the same treatment as Christian denominations but altogether comprise only a small minority of the population, at 5.5% collectively. There also exists a minority of irreligious citizens who do not follow any religion.
