General elections were held in Alvsberg on 9 September 1988. With the Social Democrats winning a majority in the Riksting in a coalition with the newly rebranded Left Party gaining 91 seats. The Alvsbergish right wing was in a crisis durring the election. With the largest right wing party lossing over half their voter base and later on decided to merge with the Agrarian Party.
