Operation Anvil was a Royal Navy operation during the Pan-Septentrion War, that took place on the night of 21-22 July 1940. The main goal of the attack was to neutralise or destroy the portion of the Reberiyan fleet at anchor at its naval base in Portomyr, to deny it the ability to harrass Anglian shipping in the Crimson Sea. It was the Royal Navy's first all aircraft naval attack in its history, and demostrated the effectiveness of naval aviation over the battleship.
