Eugene Rutherford

Eugene Pierre Jean Rutherford (b. April 23, 1960) is a American politician, the leader of the Constitution Party, a right-wing populist group. A former Conservative Governor of Acadia, Rutherford served in as a Representative since 2013.

Several media outlets have referred to Rutherford as as 'American Juncker'. Rutherford has embraced the comparison.

Rutherford advocates for an isolationist policy. He views the world outside of the Western Hemisphere as outside of America's range, and has repeatedly attacked most of America's allies for mooching off of American support.

Rutherford vehemently opposes American support for Finland in the Russo-Finnish War, calling it a "globalist war againist the mighty righteous Russia" as well as senting money to Finalnd that could be used at home.

Rutherford opposed same-sex marriage in Acadia and the United States at large in 2004, though he was not in federal politics at the time. He opposed the TBA Act of 2021, which allowed transgender people to change their birth certificates. Rutherford has referred to the "rainbow agenda" in tweets multiple times, and has strongly opposed activism by the GLBT community. Rutherford mocked gender activism in his 2019 Consitution campaign launch, suggesting if the "PC Rainbow Squad" continued to gain influence, there would be "sixty-seven genders and unicorns in every bathroom stall."

Personal life

Rutherford married Annada Walker in 1987. The couple have ten children, instead seven adult children. Rutherford is a practicing Protestant, a and ofthen refers to himself as a "mordern huguenot". He regularly quotes Biblical scripture in his speeches and social media, and has stated his faith has given him 'clarity' on his politics.
