Natascha Magdalena Løffebrück (born 30 January 1965) is a Wulffren Union Party politician serving as First Minister of Wulffmark since 2015.

An economist and civil servant by training, Løffebrück holds a BA in Economics from Brunemouth University and has worked for several institutions including Wulffmarks Sturbank, LødeBank and the Department for Agriculture and Environment. A member of the Union Party since 1993, she was elected to Drøgolund County Council in 2001 and held several positions within the County Union Party, eventually becoming its top candidate for the 2009 local elections. Løffebrück was elected County Mayor after the Blue Group won a narrow majority in the Council, where she first rose to national prominence. She was re-elected in 2013 local elections after the Blue Group increased its majority.

In January 2015 she successfully sought the top candidacy of the Union Party for the2015 general election, unexpectedly defeating the favourite Carl Dahle Svenssen on transfer votes. After a campaign emphasising social liberalism, fiscal discipline and market environmentalism, she was elected First Minister after the 2015 general election. Her government consists of a coalition with the Centre Party recieving support and neutrality from the Blue Group.

Her premiership has included the introduction of a progressive corporation tax, market-oriented environmental schemes, changes to the immigration system, labour law reform, a re-structuring of QUANGOs, and closer relations with the Nordanian League.

The brøsen (symbol Br, plural brøsor) is the national currency of Wulffmark. Introduced in 1922 to replace the former Wulffren krone, it is formally divided into 100 øre, although only 50ø coins are currently issued. It has been pegged to the Aininian louré at a central rate of 7.23Br since 1988.

Name

Originating from the word brøns (bronze), the name was historically colloquial for the lowest denominated bronze specie of the medieval Wulffren krone and its subunits. Although higher denominations were made from silver, gold and rarely platinum, only the bronze coins were typically seen by commoners making it the most publicly-recognised coin. Use of bronze spiece had ended by the late 17th century when the coins had been heavily debased with copper and other metals, although the phrase remained in common use for low denomination coins, which had retained the brown colouring. In the 18th century, the name was revived for small value deposit certificates.

The official name øre is derived from aurum, the latin for gold, although only early øre coins were minted from that.

History

Economics

Due to the impossible trinity, the Sturbank's targeting of exchange rates prevents it from targeting interest rates. Although capital controls have historically been imposed (as recently as XXXX), the Sturbank has never adopted interest rate targeting. Economists have noted that because of this Wulffren interbank rates have never deviated more than 179bp from Ainian benchmark rates.
