Isenna

The Kingdom of Isenna was once a state in South Teudallum. Its most important cities were Isenna and Neomaris. From its ashes, emerges the Kingdom of Aristia (currently Aristian Republic) and from some of its expats, the Principality of Lisander.

History

First people and Hesperidesian influx

The lands of Isenna had known human occupation since centuries before the common era. The first inhabitants of the area, a group that possibly shares origins with other southern teudallic prople like morrosetans and costenses. The frontiers between the “realms” — that weren’t more than two or three semi-independent villages or fiefs — were probably not clear, having in mind that these villages could change allegiance from time to time, or even do not follow any other city. The trade with the east, especially with the Latin Kingdoms of Hesperidesia, makes the local populations adopt costumes from these kingdoms. Neomaris, a city founded by Basilean expatriates, grows steadily. In the late 900s, a land extension that encompassed the main cities of Isenna and Neomaris were already under those noble families, that by way of commerce or war, established a government there

The Ludvician Principality and the Kingdom

Around 1100, a hesperidesian noble family known as the Ludvicians, was in power in the region, probably under the Principatus System. They were members of the Aristotelic Church, a religion that supposedly arose in Basilea through the syncretism of ancient philosophical teachings and aspects of Christianity. The Ludvicians started to expand the territory of the nation even more, convincing rural aristocracy to join their religion and expand its domains. This expansion is augmented by Coastal Crusades, when more and more hesperidesian nobles arrive at the coast, establishing as a majority. With the ultimate downfall of Basilea, the Isennan nobles of hesperidesian establish the Kingdom, under the authority of Arn I, the first King of Isenna.
