Mwathi-Hawikni Dzoiszeri is a Giji singer-songwriter and a human rights activist, who participated in Cabonde Bay Music Festival 2019 with his song "Xafa'lme", meaning "Like a Slave". He finished first in the jury votes, but later lost to TuRaj in the public vote and came second overall. He first got popular in 2011, when he released his song "Gaxha bo'en" (Deadland/Dreamland no more). It has been streamed over 400 million times on Spotify.
Many of his songs are political and are about the rights and land of the Cevi people. Politicians have mixed opinions about his songs. With the songs, Mwathi tries to get the attention of the politicians to improve human rights in Cevbukis Island.
Personal life
Mwathi has a little brother Dazoh, born in 1989. They have been making music together since 1998. Mwathi also has a wife Maria, with whom he has 2 children, born in 2010 and 2012.
