Name of the Country

Although the word Tokuto (とくと) could be directly translated as a land without haste or nation of the diligent. Name propably comes from the combination of the words, taken from the old writing system Kanji, Toku (匿 — shelter, shield) and Tomoshi (魂 — God of life) which in combination meant a place where the tomoshi protects you. After the introduction of the new writing system in the 1800s was original name Tokutomoshi (匿魂) rewriten as Tokuto (とくと) translating to land where the spirit resides.
