The 1982 United Commonwealth presidential election was the first presidential election in the United Commonwealth, although a provisional president was elected two years prior. The election marked a turning point in the young nation's life and the UPA victory is credited with saving the Commonwealth's democratic systems. The Alliance nominee (And Massachusetts governor) Michael Dukakis defeated the Socialist Front's Henning Blomen, with the Libertarian Party trailing behind in third.
