The KLB-98 Würger ("Shrike") is a twin-engine canard delta-wing multirole fighter aircraft. The vehicle was designed to act as the primary multirole fighter aircraft of the Englean Luftstreitkräfte, replacing the aged Horssmann Ho-229 which had been in service since 1975. The Würger is capable of air-superiority, interceptor, and air-to-surface operations in any weather condition. The aircraft is expected to remain in service until 2035, when it will be fully replaced by the KLB "Zukunftjäger."
The Lindian AEF-94 Accipiter, which was introduced one year prior to the KLB-98, bears a striking resemblance to the Kaiserliche Flugzeugbau aircraft. So much so that Aerobus has accused the Englean company of corporate and military espionage and for copying their design. This has led to the Ventismar Union no longer allowing technology transfers between the VU and Engleberg. Kaiserliche Flugzeugbau returned the same accusations, stating that the Lindian product resulted from espionage during the initial design stages of the KLB-98 from 1988-1994. Both companies continue to stand by their claims to this day.
Currently the G and H models are in service with the Englean Luftstreitkräfte.
