At the start of the decade, the Chamber of Representatives and Chamber of Supervisors were dissolved by Helen Magnus and the Technology Party and the campaign official began, although, due to the disaster of Operation Swift the Technology Party headed into this campaign on a bad footing with new leadership.

It proved to be a disastrous campaign for the Technology Party, and the start of a series of internal political disputes that resulted in the party rapidly losing seats over a number of elections.

Prior to campaigning, the National Electoral Commission and Integrity Office (NECIO) announced an expansion of the Chamber of Representatives from 1700 seats to 1900 seats to ensure the continued proportionality of the vote.

Election Issues

Operation Swift and the wider status of the war effort against the two separatist republics formed a key part of the election campaign, as the failure of the recent military offensive wasn't just a shock to the population but brought concern to many that the country could end up on the losing side of the civil war.

At this point public opinion favoured an aggressive reaction, and wished to see a form of revenge taken against the National Workers' Republic for the losses inflicted upon the Territorial Defence Force. Modern historians now link this to the brutality of the conclusion of the war against the NWR and the present distaste that the Malgravean people have for open displays of aggression and violence.

Campaigns

Conservative Campaign

The Conservative Action Party started off their campaign pushing forward maximum aggression against all who opposed the country, and pledged to invest massively into the armed services. It was a message that resonated with the public spirit at the time, and the newly formed Conservative Action Party found themselves winning over large parts of the country.

Technology Party

The Technology Party was in disarray following the decision of Helen Magnus to retire from politics and public life overall. It was blamed by the majority of the population for letting the country suffer it's worst military defeat since the great exodus and couldn't recover.

Unity Campaign

The Unity Party found itself effectively drowned out by the Conservative Action Party, although, its focus on national unity and investment in communities meant that it was able to steal some voters from the collapsing Technology Party.
