The Second Biggonian Empire, more commonly known as the Biggonian Empire or simply Biggonia, was a state which existed from its formation in 1901 until 2023. The Second Biggonian Empire was preceded by the Biggonian Confederation, and succeeded by the Biggonian Commonwealth, alternatively known as the Third Biggonian Empire. Owing to them ruling Biggonia for almost the entirity of the 20th century, the Biggonian Empire saw unprecedented change and growth, however was still able to cling onto an archaic form of governance due to the government's willingness to embrace progress to a limited extent so long as it served their own ends. In 2021, the Biggonian Empire was made up of 6 provinces: The Kingdom of Talland, Archduchy of Suddereich, Principality of Grenzland, Shahdom of Seltsamia, Free City of Kudestadt, and the Governate of Domlandia, which was still under a provisional administration at the time of the Empire's collapse in 2023. During the Empire's 122 year existence, they had four Emperors and one Empress. From late 2021, the Biggonian Empire was in an interregnum period due to the impeachment of its Empress. In 2021, the Biggonian Empire's population was 148,070,860, and excluding Domlandia consisted of 135 Prefectures. The Biggonian Empire would ultimately end in 2023, when a coup d'etat by security services on the 4th September promopted a ceasefire in the ongoing Biggonian Civil War and capitulation to the Biggonian Commonwealth, with the final agreement where the Empire adopted the Commonwealth's constitution being signed on 26th October 2023.
