This article is about the Elder Dragon from Realms of the Multiverse. For the organization from Kali Yuga, see Leviathan.

Leviathan (Chinese: 利维坦; pinyin: Lìwéitǎn) is the Elder Dragon of Knowledge. She is the oldest of the five initial dragons, being created from the remains of a plesiosaur by the Technocracy and inspiring the other four ghost civilizations in the creation of their own Elder Dragons.

Appearances

Design

Leviathan is a large, serpentine being with deep blue scales on her back and cyan scales on her underside. She has cyan eyes, four pairs of fins on either side of her torso and another four slightly below them. She has visible cybernetic implants on different parts of her body, including her head, torso, and fins. On her back are a pair of blue wings and a mechanical dorsal fin between them, and below them are rows of small, cyan spines. Her tail ends in a cyan fin with two flukes near a smaller pair of cyan fins.

In her human form, she is a European woman with blue eyes of great height and is the tallest female humanoid character at 181 centimetres. She has long, blonde, wavy hair parted in the middle and slightly tanned skin. She is often seen wearing a light blue bikini under a white and blue coat with golden buttons and epaulette. When not undercover, she is always accompanied by four white, spherical drones with a fin on top and another on the bottom, with two pairs of smaller fins on either side. These drones can change their size to match that of their master's.

History

Origins

Spies from The Technocracy have been reporting on The Green's ritualistic selection of both war animals and ghosts to produce individuals primed for war since the earlier days of Earth's global conflict. However, The Technocracy has been failing to produce individuals who can go toe to toe against their green adversaries, forcing them to rely on spiritual and technological advantages. This was until a scientist within the aquatic state proposed a new method of producing individuals - by restoring one with strong physical energy back from the dead and bolstering them with Technocrat cybernetics. After further research and debate, this proposal was approved by the ruling Council of Scholars and remains of dead aquatic reptiles were gathered.

Few of the remains were able to be revived and even fewer survived the horrific modifications the ghosts put them through. One of them, a female who was once a plesiosaur, showed great promise. Not only did she gain sentience from the ghosts' experiments, but also immense spiritual capabilities rivaling that of top Technocrat telepaths - which they were subjected to after a containment breach took the lives of many and the sanity of more. Fortunately for the Technocracy, this breach was swiftly taken care of, enough to prevent losses that would cause them to be overrun by the other Great Ghost Civilizations. This new creation was recaptured and named Leviathan, the crown jewel of the Technocrat Navy. While they saw her as a living weapon, the ghosts' treatment of her improved. Her living tank was expanded, and she was rewarded with food, soldiers, and mates for her cooperation. Soon, she felt unsatisfied. She demanded her rewards to come in the form of information. Material she could feast her ever curious mind on, to expand her horizons and quench her thirst for knowledge. Seeing it a worthy investment, the ghosts agreed, and Earth would soon discover a formidable new contender in the battlefield.

Trivia

  • Sources contradict each other on (the living) Leviathan's gender in real life, as the Book of Enoch describes the entity as female, while Rashi's commentary on Genesis 1:21 states that it was male, and its mate was killed as the Earth could not support both of them. RMD made Leviathan female in the game so there would be two female Elder Dragons, the other being Basmu.
