The Saegaram class space control ship is a ship designed to serve as a flagship using multiple command and communication systems while having a level of combat capability that is higher than that of a battleship.
The space control ship is a new type of ship that has never been made before. The CDF, which previously used warships or carriers as its flagship, commissioned Cheolsang Heavy Industries to develop a Saegaram class space control ship to be equipped with a more efficient operational command capability. Using a battleship or carrier designed for combat purposes as a flagship has had a problem in that the command capacity of the fleet may vary depending on the battleship of the carrier's communication and command hardware and software capabilities. To address this issue, the CDF began deploying Saegaram class space control ships to the site to ensure that each fleet has equal and powerful command capabilities.
