Baluka'i, also known as Monsvallis, is the capital city of Pongi. It was founded in 1855 as the site of a new capital after the Battle of Rygerrof, and was founded by Trein Whitecomb, Mari Tyrone and the indegenous tribes of the Kauia and Twashare. They signed a memorandum declaring the city would be one that was welcoming and modern. It is known for its famous cottagecore mix of heritage buildings, excellent beaches and is home to many different paragliding spots. Crime is low compared to most cities of a similar size, with many universities being based in Monsvallis.

Etymology

Monsvallis received its name by one of the founders, Mari. It means "Mountain Valley" in Latin. The original name, Baluka'i, which means the "place of gathering", had been swapped out in negotiations, which angered the Kauia tribe, which have declared that they have been calling the area "Baluka'i", for thousands of years and it was "very disappointing" that the original name was not reflected. Nonetheless, talks continued, with the Portuguese settlers promising to change the name back soon. After the referendum was held, the city will officially be known as Baluka'i-Monsvallis.

History

Monsvallis was first settled by the Twashare tribe in the Woi Nation five thousand years ago. Euronian settlers first settled here in 1855 and stroke a treaty with the Twashare tribe for land. Eventually, the settlers started taking the land forcefully, which caused multiple battles between the Indigenous Natives and Euronians. Eventually over hundreds of years, an apology was offered and the Twashare tribe was handed back significant areas. The city was given the dual name of Baluka'i-Monsvallis after a referendum in early 2024.

Geography

Monsvallis has a mild mediterranean climate. Ranging from warm and dry summers to cold and wet winters, the city is rated Csb on the world climate classification, with a clear distinction between rainfall throughout seasons.
