The Hugotic War (Mtl: ఉకొ హుబి, Uko Hubi) is an ongoing conflict between the Mutul and the Noble Republic of Orun Redisus that began in December 2024 when the Mutul invaded its eastern neighbor in a campaign now known as Operation Covenant. The stated goal of the war is the dethroning of Indore II Ivorea and his replacement by his brother Hugo Ivorea. The war come after decades of tensions within Orun Redisus over the status of Orun, economic and ecological policies, the resurgence of anti-Latin sentiments within Orun.

Preludes

In 2018 was held the sixth Assembly of the Four Dawns in 2018 during which the Five House of Orun elected Indore Ivorea over his eldest brother, Hugo Ivorea. Proposing younger candidates is a common policy of the Five Houses, as it allow them to potentially hold the throne for longer and, if the elected monarch is a minor, for the House's Patriarch or Matriarch to serve as Regent.

Knowing that his cousin and Matriarch Grand Duke Ixdira Ivorea would not endorse Hugo's bid for the throne due to his age, the Prince made an appeal to popular will by making public his plan for Orun Redisus. He notably promised to go back on environmental policies and reduce the size of protected areas to allow for the development of agriculture and an industrial base as well as facilitate access of many isolated settlements to other parts of the country and improve access to government institutions and programs, especially healthcare and higher education. Many demands that had been made by Oran movements throughout the existence of the country. Hugo had planned for the public pressure and the fear of outcry and backlash in the case of his loss would force the Houses to elect him over his younger brother, but his bid failed, Ixdira and the other Heads confronting Hugo over what they perceived as his reckless and short-sighted behavior, having now raised political awareness among the general population. From there on out, Prince Hugo became a persona-non-grata at Court, rejected by the other nobles for his Populism and Demagoguery.
