Yonghae, officially the Republic of Yonghae, is an island nation in the Sea of Yonghae, situated in the middle of Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and Russia. It's capital, Gwangmyeon, is a global power city, as is the nation's secondary city, Yangsan. The nation of over 71 million inhabitants is divided into four provinces, those being Gwangdok-do, Gangan-do, Jaehak-do, and Daesu-do. 56% of the nation's population is situated in Gwangdok-do, leaving 31% to Jaehak-do, 8% to Daesu-do, and 5% to Gangan-do. Yonghae is considered a heavily urbanized nation, with the Gwangdok-do and Jaehak-do being considered megaregions.
Yonghae is a highly developed country with the 5th largest nominal GDP in the world and one of the highest average household incomes in the world. It boasts the world's second fastest internet speeds (behind South Korea), comprehensive equal access to high quality healthcare, and one of the highest rating education systems in the world. Yonghae is a leader in the industries of manufacturing, technology, and science, and is a contributing state to the entertainment phenomenon known as the Korean wave.
Yonghae is a great power with considerable political, economic, military, and culture influence within Asia and the world. It retains the world's third largest defence budget, annually spending 2.8% ($96.712 billion) of it's GDP on the military. Controversially, it is a recognised nuclear weapons state. It is a founding nation of the Gwangmyeon Pact and a member state of the UN, G4, G7, Interpol, OECD, and the WTO. It is an observer state of SEATO.
