The Tikvan Democratic Party (Yebru: מפלגה דמוקרטית) is a Katzist, secular, liberal party, formed by Prime Minister Liora Shapiro in the run-up to the October 2019 snap election to unify the left in defeating the rise of another right-wing government in Tikva. It is widely considered "the Unified Left" or "New Left" as it was established through the merger of a half-dozen left-leaning parties from Yesh Tikvah and Meretz to Shinui and Avoda. Shapiro's party won 51 out of 120 seats in the Knesset, well above expectations. The Democratic Party's 2019 success would mark a realignment in Tikvan politics.
