The Royal Rochan Air Force or RRAF (Forza Aérea Real de Rochan, FARR) is the air force of the Kingdom of Sor Rocha and is one of three branches of the Royal Rochan Armed Forces and is charged with the defense of the airspace of the nation's airspace, as well as supporting military operations through combat air support and logistical assistance. It is the youngest of the three branches of the Royal Rochan Armed Forces.

The Royal Rochan Air Force, like the Rochan Royal Navy, is an entirely professional force made of career officers and non-commissioned officers, and and of volunteer enlisted personnel. This is in contrast to the Royal Army of Rocha, which does conscript members for service in addition to having professional officers and non-commissioned officers in leadership positions.

History

The Royal Rochan Air Force was founded in 1931 when the nation of Sor Rocha was gifted 36 Parada-Vara L-19 monoplane fighter aircraft. The aircraft we're considered to be superior to many biplane fighters fielded by foreign powers at the time, but would begin to be replaced in Imperial Air Force service just two years later with the introduction of the Athar Ar-33.

Organization

The Royal Air Force General Staff supervises three main components of the Royal Rochan Air Force;

  • Air Defense Command
  • Air Force Support Command
  • Air Force Training and Schools Command
  • Air Force Cooperation Command

Air Force Cooperation Command (Comando de cooperación da Forza Aérea, CCFA) is tasked with ensuring that the various commands reporting to the Royal Rochan Air Force General Staff are cooperating effectively and efficiently. In addition, the Air Force Cooperation Command is tasked with ensuring cooperation between the Royal Rochan Air Force and allied nations is accomplished efficiently.

The Royal Rochan Air Force General Staff is located at the Royal Air Force Headquarters in Lestelle, but most of the royal Air Force's day to day operations are carried out at Soano Royal Air Base.

Air Defense Command

Air Defense Command (Comando de Defensa da Forza Aérea, CDFA) commands all combat aircraft squadrons operational within the Royal Rochan Air Force, including having control of all combat and electronic warfare units. The Royal Rochan Air Force boasts a total of 84 Athar L-5 Víbora multirole tactical fighter aircraft organized into seven squadrons. In addition, the RRAF possess an additional 180 TAS Hornet light multirole fighter organized into 15 squadrons, or five wings. This gives the Royal Rochan Air Force a total combat aircraft count of 264 aircraft.

Royal Rochan Air Force Air Defense Command is located at Soano Royal Air Base.

Air Force Support Command

The Air Force Support Command (Comando de Apoio á Forza Aérea, CAFA) of the Royal Rochan Air Force includes all aircraft dedicated to support combat operations, such as aircraft dedciated to airlift, tactical reconnaissance, airborne early warning and control, as well as liaison and observation. It can be subdivided into several subordinate commands, including;

Air Operations Command (Comando de Aperacións Aéreas da Forza Aérea CAAFA)

Air Operations Command controls all military radar installations in Rocha Sur and strategic surface to air missile units within the Royal Rochan Air Force. It is headquorted at the Air Operations Center, which operates as a command and control instillation for the defense of Rocha Sur's airspace. This hardened underground structure is located at Rocha de Altura Royal Air Base. Rocha de Altura itself is the most elevated point on the island, and was the only suitable location to place an underground command center.

Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance Command (Comando de Intelixencia, Vixilancia, Adquisición de Obxectivos e Recoñecemento, (CIVAOR)

Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance Command is responsible for controlling all reconnaissance assets of the Royal Rochan Air Force, to include operation tactical reconnaissance aircraft as well as units tasked with analysis and dissemination of reconnaissance material. Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance Command is located at Rocha de Altura Royal Air Base

Air Force Logistic Command (Comando Loxístico da Forza Aérea, CLFA)

The Air Force Logistic Command provides operational units with all the required necessary logistics, combat support and service support functions. It controls the various tactical airlift squadrons of the Royal Rochan Air Force. It is headquartered at Alaraz Royal Air Base

Air Force Training and Schools Command

Air Force Training Command (Comando de Adestramento e Escolas da Forza Aérea, CAEFA) is dedicated to the initial basic training of incoming airmen as well as vocational training for the version military occupational specification that exist within the Royal Rochan Air Force. Aircraft assigned to Training and Schools Command are used for flight instruction, as well as hands on demonstrators for maintenance and technical classes. In addition, Training and Schools Command possess several commuter aircraft used to ferry personal to and from training sites as needed.

Air Force Training and Schools Command is headquartered at Anlló Royal Air Base, which is also where all basic training for the Royal Rochan Air Force takes place.
