Rocha Sur, officially the Kingdom of Rocha Sur is an island nation located within the western Sea of Storms, and is the most populous island in the sea. The nation was established by the 1895 Treaty of Division signed between the Empire of Temuair and Holy Kingdom of Aegion, which split the island between Sor Rocha and <>, with which Rocha Sur shares a land border. Despite this border, Rocha Sur claims de jure sovereignty over the entire island. It shares a maritime border with the Empire of Temuair to the south, and the Republic of Curonia lies to the east. Its largest city, which is also its capital, is Lestelle, which is situated on the coast of Baía Azul.
Due to its strategic location, the Empire of Temuair has guaranteed the independence of Rocha Sur since its creation in 1895.
History
Colonists form Temuair arrived on the island as early 250 BCE and have been there ever since. Most of the colonists migrated from the Orzloa and Olina regions of the Patrian Empire. These settlers came into conflict with settlers from the Holy Kingdom of Aegion
In 1895, the Treaty of Division was signed between the Empire of Temuair and the Holy Kingdom of Aegion. The Treaty specially forbid either power from exercising either de jure or de facto jurisdiction over any part of the island. The treaty further established the Kingdom of Rocha Sur and <>, with an arbitrary dividing live dissecting the island. The treaty did not contain any clause disallowing the basing, stationing or garrisoning of military forces by either power on the island's territory, and therefore is considered to be a nearly worthless treaty by the international community, as it did not accomplish the goal of preventing the two power from vying for control of the island.
The same year the Treaty of Division established the Kingdom of Rocha Sur, Nevan Barela, descendant of a noble family related to the line of Queen Rios of Beriso, was appointed the head of the Rochan government, becoming Nevan I. Nevan I laid claim to the Rochan throne arguing that the island had typically been a possession of the Beriso Barony, and as such, was his to claim since he would have been the rightful heir to the Aisling kingdom had it continued to exist. The Imperial government encouraged the Rochan people to accept this claim, as well as encouraging other former noble dissidents to travel to Rocha Sur and establish their royal households there.
