Marism is a monotheistic religion and tradition centred on the teachings of Guardian Mari, which were codified by the ten Followers. Marists adhere to the prophecy as codified in the Hicak. Established by the follower Szalbacaile in 1144, the religion started spreading clandestinely amongst former Ditanists in Brilliania. There are two major movements in Marism: the Reformist Marists or Liberal Marists and Orthodox Marists.
Current Marism originated as an offshoot of Brillian pagan traditions in the tenth century, with the Hicak being re-codified by followers based off original texts.
Characteristics
The Marist religion is a continuation and modernisation of Brillian paganist traditions. The Marist belief system includes the belief in a God, who revealed himself to Mari. Mari proceeded to recieve seven major rules for the creation of an ideal populace, which Mari gave to the people.
Practises and worship
Guilds
In the society as described in the Hicak, Mari ordered her followers to practise a system of co-operative work in prayer and in daily life. These organisations display major similarities with guilds.
Hicak
The codification of sacred texts, the Hicak, consists of five books and is often supplemented by religious study books and verbal traditions.
