The Concordian Navy is the military branch of the Concordian Armed Forces responsible for defending the Terran Concordium in space and the air. The Concordian Navy is the largest and most capable exo-atmospheric force in the universe and is often regarded as the backbone of the Concordian military; as they are responsible for the defence of all the worlds under the domain of the Concordium and their ships are the vehicles that transport the billions of the Concordian troops and materiel to war. Numerous conflicts such as the bloody Great Intergalactic War saw the rise of the Concordian Navy as a dominant fighting force throughout not only the Milky Way galaxy, but beyond.

The mission of the Concordian Navy, as described by the Official Mission Statement of the Concordian Navy is,

The mission of the Navy is to defend and protect the Terran Concordium's interests, the rights and freedoms of the Terran Concordium and its citizens and to uphold the security and freedom of space.

History

Origins

The Origins of the Concordian Navy lie in the foundation of the United Planetary Alliance's space force, which commanded the various vessels of Earth and its allied planets in the Sol System.

Equipment

As of 3330, the Concordian Navy has over 7.21 billion ships, 3.21 trillion craft and 52 billion facilities in active service across two universes.

Ships

The names of Concordian warships are prefixed with the three letters, CCV, which stand for "Concordian Combat Vessel" while civilian non-combatant ships under the Concordian Navy are prefixed with the letters CNCV, meaning "Concordian Non-Combatant Vessel. Reconnaissance vessels, including those that are equipped with weaponry are classified with CRV or "Concordian Reconnaissance Vessel. The ship names are named by the crew of the ship and officially accepted by the ship's commanding officer but the names must follow a set of conventions and each ship also has a hull classification number symbol along with the ship's code.

Battleships

Battleships are the most powerful, heavily armoured and armed starships that serve as the most dangerous combat vessels operated by the navy. They often act as flagships of fleets and make up much of the main striking power of fleets. The Concordian military doctrine places the battleship as a central component of a fleet, using their long range firepower and heavy protection to unleash and absorb large quantities of damage against enemy fleets. The Concordian Navy, similarly to many over military forces, replaced their dreadnought-type vessels with battleships when it was realised the slow mobility and lacking manoeuvrability of dreadnoughts was too much of a liability in modern naval warfare. Contemporary battleships are far more mobile and agile than traditional dreadnoughts and have often exceeded and surpassed them in both protection and offensive firepower.
