Clayp Thines is considered a swing ward. Unlike most central-eastern wards, it is considered relatively politically centrist, with pockets of both strong conservatives and liberals scattered throughout. This may be because of zoning laws, as much of suburban and exurban Clayp - which lean conservative - balances out the heavily liberal sections of the capital. Despite this, centre-left parties have done relatively well in recent election cycles, gaining over 60% of the vote in the 2014 federal election. They also control the ward legislature and governorship.
