Asta Kaarina Marita Hakkanen, or Consul Asta Hakkanen of Kissankyla, was born on September 24th, 1997. She became Consul on a cold Christmas Eve, with her mother having been on her deathbed and long been expected to pass at any moment. Her ascension was the following day and has reigned since. Many note that in her short reign so far, she is remarkably more vocal and hands on than many of her predecessors. Many suspect this is due to a shift in mindset just before the assassination attempt of her mother.

Ascension
At her formal confirmation vote, many precedents were broken given the nature of the ascension. Consul-select Asta renounced her commitment to the national religion in lieu of The New Faith, and wore all black in remembrance of her mother and make-up resembling streams of tears to mark the sad occasion of which she has become the Consul. The traditional celebration after a successful confirmation vote was one of the longest receptions as it was meant to be a vigil of sorts to her mother.
