Islamic Republic (Arabic: جمهورية اويكويا الاسلامية Jumhuriat Awykwya Al'iislamia) officially the Islamic Republic of Oikoia is a presidential republic located in Northern Oikoia - northeastern Thaecia. It is currently ruled by a military junta-style government headed by General Muhammad ibn Husayn, a popular figure among the populace who some see as the 'Hero' of the Civil War; defeating Islamic State and allowing for much investment after the war.

Politics

Government

The Government of the Republic is made up of two Houses, it is bicameral in design. The lower house is the House of Commons (Arabic: مجلس العموم romanized: majalles al-amm) and is made up of 534 elected representatives. The Commons is the supreme legislative authority in the country, outranking even the Upper House - which may only delay its acts.

The Upper House, known as the House of the Honourable, is made up of unelected individuals appointed instead by Her Majesty the Queen of Upper Ontario and Hudson Bay, the United Kingdom, New South Wales, and the other Commonwealth Realms, Elizabeth III. She does not have any other authority in the country, and appoints Honourable Members on the advice of the Prime Minister and President. The Honourable does not have the power to make legislation, any may only amend and scrutinise legislation from the Commons. It may send a Bill back to the Commons twice before the bill has to be accepted under all conditions. The Honourable may only fully block the passing of a Emergency Powers Measure, and any Bills which pertain to its structure and role in the Government. It's membership varies, and is not set. Members are known as "The Most Honourable [Name] of this/that House" they are not granted titles, as the Republican nature of the constitution would not allow such honours.
