The Anti-Terrorist Unit (ATU) is a paramilitary unit of the Lyoa National Defense Force made up of ex-United Self-Defense Movement fighters of warlord Jean Patrice Yishuruba. The group was formed following the defeat of the Islamic Front rebel faction, where Yishuruba was offered integration into the national armed forces after his group's collaboration with the LNDF. The group functions as a paramilitary security group, with a mixed policing and military role. It is considered to be an elite or irregular unit of the LNDF.
