Aerith Gainsborough (7 February 1990) is a Nibelheimian politician who has served the 35th Prime Minister of Nibelheim-Saxe-Hanover since 2025 after the 2025 Nibelheim Federal Snap Election which was the result of the Dissolution of Parliament by King Noctis Lucis Caelum through the Royal Prerogative after then-Prime Minister Rolf Gudegast admitted to being unable to handle the situation of the WIRS Outbreak in Nibelheim.
Born in Kalm, she grew up with several future government members of her parliament, namely Tiffa Lockehart, the current Nibelheimian Secretary of Health for Nibelheim-Saxe-Hanover and the current Nibelheim Army chief of staff, Gen. Claude Strife. After earning her degree in journalism in 2011 at the University of King Georgius V, she studied for another 2 years and earned her degree in education. She opened a small school in her hometown prior to entering politics. In 2015, she ran for Mayor in her hometown of Kalm and won 74% of the votes, making her the first female mayor of Kalm and the youngest at the age of 25. During the 2017 federal elections, she became a Member of Parliament for Eisendar. In 2018, she challenged Brigitte Ackermann for the leadership of the Liberal Party and won, becoming both the youngest Leader of the Opposition for Nibelheim-Saxe-Hanover and the Leader of the Liberal Party of Nibelheim. Her party lost in the 2021 federal elections but finally secured victory during the 2025 federal elections.
As Prime Minister, she iterated that the lock down would continue and that the travel ban would be in place, except for flights from the UK, Gallia, Erebonia, and Rubrum. She implemented a series of laws that would flatten Nibelheim's curve in as fast as 3 months. She implemented tax cuts and reduced the average salary of every members of parliament and those working in government agencies by 10%, which would serve as an additional fund for researching cure, provisions of food and water, improvement in drinking systems, and increasing production of PPEs and other health necessities needed by front line workers. By March 2025, Nibelheim's cases finally became stagnant and recovery rates increased. She also signed the Emergency Facilities Law, which prompted to turn hotels, stadiums, schools, universities, and other public buildings into quarantine centres and hospitals.
As for military contributions in the Eurasianna War, called for a return of all Nibelheimian personnel to Nibelheim in preparations for a possible invasion of Nibelheim by the Chalcedony Empire, which was halted by the Royal Nibelheimian Navy, with support from the Royal Navy and the Royal Estharian Navy in the Battle of the Nibelheimian Sea in April 2026.
Her leadership is lauded by her knowledge of handling the outbreak in the country and the country's defence during the war. She has been equally compared with Violette Evergreen, the current Prime Minister of New Akiba in her handling of local affairs, particularly during the WIRS Pandemic
