Gabriella (Republica de Gabriella) is a federal state in western Rennekka bordered by Alazor, Aiyaca, Rocia, Chawpisuyu, Collicura, Sioya, and Sisimut. It stretches from the Opal Ocean in the east to the Jade Ocean in the west and is the largest nation in Rennekka by area. It has approximately 20 million inhabitants concentrated in two urban regions; the capital of Orilla on the east coast and the central administrative center of San Vella.

Originally, Gabriella was only the coastal province of Orilla under the Viceroyalty of New Merida. Orilla's preeminence among the rest of the provinces, however, elevated the name "Gabriella" to refer to all of the lands of New Merida which remained loyal to the revolutionary government. The revolutionary government considered keeping the name New Merida, but their subsequent wars to take control of the central river basin absorbed lands which had been transferred to the Viceroyalty of Yucon.

Gabriella is a dominant party-state which has earned a reputation as a police state with poor civil liberties. In the late 20th century, Gabriella faced a crisis of leadership as the outgoing president had failed to reconcile with a strong movement for indigenous enfranchisement. This dispute result the "kingpin compromise" in which individual governors were given broader suppression powers towards illegal parties, but indigenous peoples were both allowed to hold office and to vote.

Etymology

Gabriella was named for King Gabriel I, who presided over the Veleazan golden age.
