The Democratic Monarchist Party is a minor party that was founded in 2014 in West Phoenicia that focuses on Monarchy reforms.
In 2016 it allied with the West Phoenicia Empire First Party as a Centirst union voting bloc.
History
The Democratic Monarchist Party was formed in 2014 in the West Phoenician city-state of King Glenton Bush I Province.
The city-state the party was founded in is significant. King Glenton Bush I was the founder of the Bush dynasty, a hereditary monarchy that has ruled West Phoenicia since 1616.
The party is the conception of Glen Corinthians; 1st Baron of Unicorn Isles and other lesser members of the West Phoenician aristocracy.
The party is pro-monarchy, but calls for reforms to move the Head of State away from a hereditary role to an "elected" by the population role.
Much like how the Prime Minister is elected, the party calls for 5 year terms for elected Kings or Queens; elected by the population and stripping hereditary rights.
The party believes just because one is related, it does not mean they are qualified.
The party does not advocate for Emperor Glenton Gryphon-Bush II to abdicate as he has been on the throne longer than 5 years, rather they wish to reform the law now so once he does step down the next Monarch will be democratically elected.
The Democratic Monarchist Party also advocates for reducing the executive powers that are bestowed upon the Monarch.
