The Nationalist Party of West Phoenicia was founded on March 20, 2000. It is considered a minor party that sits on the Cross bench.
The Nationalists promote themselves as right wing who support West Phoenician Nationalism and keeping West Phoenicia a great Empire.
While the West Phoenician Empire First Party promoted themselves as the party that supports West Phoenicia. The Nationalists gave more than lip service.
History
The Nationalist Party was registered on March 20, 2000.
Edmund Dunedin was elected as the first party leader.
The party started during the reign of Queen Jezebel Bush. While many parties who were vocal in opposition to the new Monarch were punished with exile or imprisonment for being outspoken, as the Nationalist Party was Queen Jezebel Bush as pro-West Phoenician in her weekly televised speeches, they praised her leadership.
By 2005 the corruption and wickedness of Queen Jezebel Bush could no longer be hidden.
Elections had been rigged to allow those loyal to the monarch to be elected to the seats. Those Members of Parliament and the Senate who spoke out or were loyal to those the Queen saw as enemies were removed from positions of power.
Nationalist Party Leader Edmund Dunedin started to speaking out, calling out the monarchs corruption and crimes in parliament and in the city-state he toured.
Edmund Dunedin was arrested in 2005 on charges of treason, he was found guilty and executed.
Melissa Salsburg, the parties deputy leader was elected as the new party leader. She was less outspoken during the reign of the Queen.
Other party members fled to the Kingdom of Gryphon where Thaddeus Gryphon, former Emperor of West Phoenicia before he was deposed was residing.
The majority of Nationalist Party members choose to oppose the Queen during the 5th West Phoenicia Civil War (2008-2010).
Once Emperor Glenton Gryphon-Bush II ascended to the throne, elections became free and democratic again.
The Nationalists polled very well from 2010, their West Phoenicia First policies were supported and seen as more relevant than parties like the West Phoenicia Empire First Party that had always advocated for West Phoenicians first.
Issues like immigration, education and military drew citizens to vote for them.
Leftist and opposition parties labelled them racist and discriminatory for their strict immigration and conservative views.
In 2017 a possible merger with the Coalition fell flat when the media wrote articles citing the Coalition was looking to merge with a party that had far right tendicies.
The merger idea was rejected by the Coalition for fear their centrist base would abandon them for the West Phoenicia Empire First Party that while tough on immigration had more flexibility and seen as a softer more agreeable form of nationalism.
