Early life and career

Helen Magnus was born in Oxford on the 27th of August 1890, as the daughter of renowned scientist Gregory Magnus she received a vast private education from an early age. Over the years it became clear that Helen was intellectually gifted specifically in the field of medicine, despite these talents it was impossible for Helen to gain an official education in her home country. At this time her father informed her about the presence of non-humans across the world and his ongoing project to understand them.

After around a decade of researching the non-human population of Earth, Helen once again attempted to try and gain her medical degree at Oxford however despite the influence of her father the request was denied. Royal Epping University instead offered her a place to study, the newly formed nation having no such qualms on educating women. It was at this growing university that Helen quickly established herself as one of the brightest medical minds in the country and her earlier experience with non-humans even impressed professors who had been unaware of the presence of non-humans. Helen took the initiative quickly forming a localised non-human research group with fellow students and researchers at the university, the group called The Five quickly moved to understand the abilities of non-humans. During her time with group Helen was able to acquire a sample of pure, untainted Vampire blood before the species was exterminated by the Catholic Church. Helen devised a serum from the blood that was discovered to possess unique properties and the groups curiosity about humanity's potential to evolve led them to each take an injection of the blood. Once injected The Five quickly gained new abilities related to the unlocking of previously repressed genetic traits, the underlying constant being that of seeming immortality.

Helen soon attained Malgravean citizenship, quickly organising The Five into a government supported research team that sought to implement advanced traits seen in non-humans into the majority human population. Magnus however soon became frustrated with the countries lack of prime focus towards pure scientific research blaming wasteful spending on defence and administration she quickly founded the Technology Party in order to promote her political views.

Minister of Science and Engineering

The 1920 Malgravean General Election ended with no single political party gaining the appropriate majority needed to form a government. The Unity Party which had won the largest amount of seats in the Houses of Commons entered a coalition government with the Technology Party. Under the agreement Helen Magnus became the countries Science and Engineering Minister and the funding of the Ministry was vastly increased something which was paid for both by tax increases and a reduction in local government. It was these years that saw increased development of the aircraft in larger civilian roles, promotion of hydrogen to power automobiles and the funding of expeditions and research into currently known and unknown animal life.

Prime Minister

After many decades outside of government the Technology Party and Helen Magnus rose to prominence in the aftermath of the Second World War. Many citizens felt that the underdeveloped state of the armed forces technologically meant that the country was ripe for conquest, riding on a wave of increased nationalist sentiment Helen organised a campaign that promised to focus technological advancement on advancing the defensive capability of the armed forces and the industrial capacity of the nation. Despite the countries isolation from the international community and the unknown lands they found themselves in the population still quite concerned about the threat from foreigners voted in Helen with a large majority. Once stepping into office Helen quickly sought to decrease the defence budget slashing the amount of active troops in half she instead focused funding towards the research and development of new combat and industrial technology, seeking to both create a more trained and advanced force whilst reducing the current manufacturing cost of equipment.

Economically the Prime Minister ordered vast nationalisations of businesses she deemed vital to national security and the work of the previous government was continued as massive public works continued. Helen easily won the 1955 Malgravean General Election further advancing the countries focus towards education, research and healthcare with some businesses being partly privatised in order to promote private investment in the economy. Despite having enough popular support in the country to support another term Helen stepped down as Head of Technology Party before the 1960 Malgravean General Election instead re-focusing on genetic improvements to the Malgravean population.
