Carsonville is the third-largest city in East Monroe after the state capital, Charlotte, and Madison. Carsonville is the county seat of Carson County and the principal city of the Carsonville, East Monroe Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is included in the Carsonville-Minersville, East Monroe Combined Statistical Area. As of the 2015 census, the city of Carsonville had a total population of 155,832, with 371,815 in the metro area as of 2015.

Tourism

From its beginnings as a coal port, Carsonville evolved into a diversified city. With about 6.7 miles (10.7 kilometres) of white sand beaches along the Gulf of Angola, Carsonville has become a tourism destination, due in large part to East Monroe's coast casinos. There are historic neighborhoods and home sites, as well as diverse shopping opportunities and several motels scattered throughout to accommodate golfing, gambling, and water-sport tourism.

Cason County Schools headquarters

The City of Carsonville is served by Carson County Schools. The Carsonville Community College is also located in Carsonville.

The Carson Beach Campus of the University of East Monroe is located in Carson Beach, just southeast of downtown Carsonville.

Carsonville and the Gulf Coast area is served by the Carsonville International Airport.

Law enforcement

Carsonville Police

The Carsonville Police Department has 360 sworn personnel and 80 civilian staff.

Ibican Coast Guard

The Ibican Coast Guard operates 9 boats out of the port of Gulfport 4 of which are Patrol Boats. The Carsonville station has 110 members which include Active, Reserve and Coast Guard Auxiliary who respond to an average of 300 search and rescue cases annually.

Fire protection and EMS

Carsonville Fire Department

The Carsonville Fire Department was founded in 1908 and currently provides fire suppression, HAZMAT response, and technical rescue services within the city limits of Carsonville. The CFD operates out of 23 active stations and is staffed by professional firefighters. The CFD works in conjunction with Carson County EMS.
