In the aftermath of the Crimean Declaration of Independence from Russia in December 1917 and the Crimean Civil War from January–May 1918, the victorious White Khans in the Parliament of Crimea considered making the newly independent Crimea a kingdom and creating a monarchy with a khan as it's leader. The attempt never came into fruition; as republican victories in the next election ensured the proposal was abandoned.
