The Royal Armed Forces of the Grand Principality is a multi-branched joint organization that's main mission is the defense of Rhynovia and her interests within the Eastern Belisarian region and Periclean Sea of Ajax. Composed of two branches: The Royal Navy (RRN) and the Royal Territorial Army (RTA), the Royal Armed Forces is a joint force organized to be lead by a joint command, with little differentiation in service branches in the arena of command and control. The main focus of the Royal Armed Forces since its inception has been the defense of the integrity of the Rhynovian state form foreign aggressors. As foreign policy has begun to expand beyond the borders of traditional Rhynovian sphere of influence, the RAF has begun to focus on power projection, bringing its military might to bear as far as Rhynovia's trade might reaches.

Manpower and Recruitment

Within Rhynovia males 18-20 are required to serve two years of military service known as a "tour". This military service upon entrance is meant both as a way to augment current force structure, but also provide young men with a sense of purpose and a new set of skills. Various career paths ranging from maintenance work, construction, computers, and even basic infantry are available to choose from and compete for. Training is given to these conscripts and they are deployed with their unit to serve out their time. Upon the end of their tour, these young men can opt to return to their civilian lives with a new set of skills, and in some cases certification, or continue their military service and receive more in depth training in their chosen skill set. Some who compete for it are also afforded the opportunity to attend Rhynovia's service academy known as the Royal Order of Green (or "Green" for short) and a receive a commission upon graduation.

While most young men do choose to return to civilian life after their tour, it is found that those who met the physical and psychiatric qualifications to be fit for military service in some capacity were better contributors to society upon their discharge and exhibited less of a likelihood to resort to crime for a living. Those who did opt to stay in the military enjoy long fulfilling careers and enjoy many benefits for themselves and their families.

Branches

Royal Navy

The Royal Navy is the maritime arm and projection ability of the Royal Armed Forces, deploying ships throughout the Periclean Sea. The Main mission of the Royal Navy is to protect vital trade lanes throughout the world that impact Rhynovia, but secondary to that, the Royal Navy has first strike capabilities that are pivotal to its defense doctrine, clearing a path for follow on forces, and even transporting follow on forces, such as the Mobile Divisions. All hours of the day and all days of the year the Royal Navy is forward deployed in vital regions protecting the interests of the Rhynovian people.

Royal Territorial Army

The Royal Territorial Army is the prime defensive branch of the Royal Armed Forces tasked with the safeguarding of Rhynovian territorial integrity within the Eastern Belisarian region. Consistent of several organizations that perform both a wartime role of the countries guard force and a civil role of the nation’s gendarmerie, the RTA is both flexible and adaptive to the many threats that exist against the Rhynovian state, both linear and non-linear. Whether a peer or above peer nation state attacks Rhynovian soil, a non-state actor conducts an act of terrorism, or civil disputes amongst the population occur, the RTA is constantly on watch to defend its homeland, even in a detached expeditionary manner should it be needed. .
