Titus Kaligoúlas is a Kaisar of the Empire of Tarsas and is one of the brothers of Romulus X and a potential heir for the Sapphire Throne. He is the Emperor's fourth eldest brother behind Nikephoros, Cassius, and Sergius and a member of the direct Imperial Family. He is the last of Markos II's children to come of age and has turned 18 this year.

Early Life and Education

Titus was born in Detorios on Lake Arga, where the summer home of his father Markos Kaligoúlas (who ruled as Marcus II) was located. Marcus had sent his wife Lorîn away from the capital in order to birth her child. She spent the last six weeks of her gestation period in the home.

Lorîn finally gave birth on January 9, 2000 to her fourth son. He was 7 pounds and 15 ounces at birth and was birthed via private doctor in the estate. Marcus II recognized him immediately as a candidate for succession upon his birth and he was born into the title of Marquis of Kharios, a title historically held by the fourth son of the emperor. He spent his first month of life under the care of his mother before she returned to Court and he was given under the care of a governess and an army of household servants he had inherited with his title. He was baptized at the Archathalon Cathedral in Neapolis

Marcus II did not survive to see his youngest son reach adolescence, dying only a year and two months after his birth. Upon his death and the coronation of Romulus X, Lorîn abdicated in favor of her son's future consort and moved young Titus to Calaise Manor in Coriovallum where she took on full time care of him. Marcus' other children have always claimed that Titus is his mother's favorite. At age four, he began his education under the watchful eye of a private tutor. It was said the man, the scholar Caius Helius, had a profound influence on the Prince's worldview, teaching him many things from neutral standpoint and challenging him to think critically about everything he was told. He continued to study under the tutelage of Helius until he reached the age of ten and Romulus summoned him to Aenonesos to begin his life at court in the traditional manner.

Titus later admitted he found it hard to attend court where he was always overshadowed by his larger than life brothers, who were all assuming some of their duties with diligence even in their tender ages. Though tradition dictated that Titus be summoned, he felt out of place and much different from his family. With little for him to do at court, he often got into trouble with the help of his lifelong friend, Artemidorus Thrasymedes, heir to the Patrikios of Eubea. The two were known for their adventurous and mischievous nature, often breaking the rules of many a palace area. He stayed at the palace for three months doing little other than whatever he wanted. The main roles of the Kaligoúlas household and the throne had already been assumed by the older brothers, leaving little for Titus to spend his time on.

Finally, realizing his youngest brother had little to do with his life at court, Romulus had him enrolled in the prestigious Guilded Academy for Boys where he became a full time boarder. Under the many rules and guidelines of the school, Titus began to learn discipline, though it was a significant adjustment. The Academy's reputation for not treating any of its students differently based on title or heritage left a profound mark on Titus, he later said. He learned to associate with those of non noble birth. This greatly increased his popularity with the common person as he he became known for treating his classmates equally.
