Tiraniya Korovy, commonly called Korova, is an absolute monarchy in Northeast Korozemlya. It is bordered on the northeast by the Severnye Ostrova, on the south-west by Norvesk, and the west by Pridansk. Korova covers 190,728 square kilometers and has an estimated population of 19,189,200. Korova comprises of 26 principalities, with its capital in Korovka on the country's largest island, Novaya. A country of towering highlands, fertile river valleys, and rolling plains, Korova is home to a diverse range of ethnicities and cultures, including Novayans, Kalmovites, Bayardi, Ad' Cane, Yeizhka, and Ostrovans. Religious groups include Laurentists, Courantists, Bayardi Pagans, Thaunicites, Ad' Cane Revivalists, Norsic Pagans, and Atheists. Korovans and Kalmovites are the largest ethnic groups, while Laurentists are the largest religious group.

The first inhabitants of Korova were Ad' Cane tribes that were expelled or enslaved by mainlander proto-Bayardi in roughly 3500DNE. It took until the early 800NEs for the Auburn Isles to be fully united by early Korovan/late Bayardi tribes, this effort later being broken by Zelstoviy [Andrennian] vikings in the 890NEs. Korova was then split between Kalmov, Zhurova, and assorted states including and surrounding Korovka. In the early 1500s Kalmov was integrated into the United Kingdom of Andrenne & Goyanes while Zhurova was subjugated by Ta-Meri but after UKAG's dissolution in the early 1800s Kalmov & Korovka were weak and absorbed by the growing Zhurova who had then reunified refounded the Korovan state. Korova experienced a golden age of trade, amassing considerable power until its stagnation in the 1900s. In 2008 Prydanian Syndicalists couped the Monarchy and established a satellite republic, but later this collapsed after pressure from guerilla organisations in 2012. Soon after, the state broke apart into highly aggresive local governances alongside a national infrastructure failure. In late 2019 Korova as a state was reestablished by Arthur Tatarov with Ostrovan support.

Currently, Korova is a poor but rising country that is recovering from the Korovan Anarchy that followed the Syndicalist regime, having been notably described as the world's most violent country by IBC News. Tiran Arthur Tatarov is leading this effort as an interim dictator for three years with support from Norvesk, Severnye Ostrova, and other countries partaking in the Yellowtail rehabilitation effort.

Korova is a part of the Craviter Economic Association, the Bergum Pact, the Luscova Pact, and is the founder of the Association of Szlavic Nation.

Etymology

The name Korova is derived from Koro', also known as Korov, the name of original united Korova in the 800NEs ruled by Aleksandr Vorotynsky I and populated by Late Bayardi tribes. Some time after the viking formation of Kalmov, Koro' was appropriated as a wider name for the entire Auburn Isles and even supplanted 'Auburn Isles' as the common name for the geographic region until the modern era.

Around the time of the Durnovo Usurpers of Zhurova, in 1271, Koro' began to widely be referred to as Korova. This is because the old Koro' capital of Korovka had grown in prominence through the formation of the Ganzeyskiy Soyuz causing 'Korovka' to become the standard name of the area to foreign merchants due to the following economic boom. The name Korova spread slower on the Auburn Isles itself but soon caught on during contention between Kalmov and Zhurova over the southern Korovka areas. Later the second K was dropped to differantiate the city from the isles when Zhurova unified them in the 1800s.

The standard way to refer to a citizen of Korova is as a "Korovan".

History

Pre-Bayardi Korova

In roughly 6,700DNE, Novaya was one of the centers of bronze age development with the earliest recorded indigenous Ad' Cane civilization of the Kanestvo [AC Kingdom] of Çèkii-sáhwíi near present-day Suzdal. It is thought to have gradually built what fortune it had through trade with Ad' Cane in present-day Severnye Ostrova and the Auburn Channel coast, as well as with humans further along the coast.

Geography

Korova has no land borders as it is surrounded by the Auburn Channel and Pale Sea. Korova's geopolitical role stems from the location at the northern edge of Korozemlya which has historically been the first and most accessible mainland port of Korozemlya for the northern ship routes with Avrokheyviya, the Second Unification Boom can be attributed to this. The strait created by the peninsula also allows for tolling for access between the two halves of the Auburn Channel. Aside from extensive coastlines, the majority of Korova's landscape consists of river valleys and grassland plains. Korova, and notably the historic Principality of Zhurova, has long benefited from this for agricultural purposes having the lowest recorded number of famines of all North Korozemlya states despite the country's famously harsh winters. Northwestern Korova, the historic Kalmov territories, are dominated by two mountain chains. The northern one is known as the Kodar Range while the southern one is known as the Ilmensky Range, which also includes Korova's tallest point Mt. Opala. The range has historically been a defensive bulwark for Kalmov but is nowadays a rising skiing and alpine resort location during the longer-than-average Korovan winters.

Korova has a temperate climate, characterised by strong winters, with mean temperatures in February of -24.7 °C (-12.46 °F), and cool summers, with a mean temperature in August of 17.2 °C (63.0 °F). The most extreme temperatures recorded in Korova, since 1874 when recordings began, was 36.4 °C (97.5 °F) in 1975 and -47.3 °C (-53.14 °F) in 1982. Korova has an average of 179 days per year with precipitation, on average receiving a total of 765 millimetres (30 in) per year; autumn is the wettest season and spring the driest. The position between a continent and an ocean means that the weather is often unstable.

Because of Korova's northern location, there are large seasonal variations in daylight. There are short days during the winter with sunrise coming around 8:45 am and sunset 3:45 pm , as well as long summer days with sunrise at 4:30 am and sunset at 10 pm.

Demographics

Population

Korova has an estimated population of 19,189,200, ranking 40th on the world charts. The birthrate is 24 per 1000, however the population growth rate is 2.85% due the mass immigration of expats as a result of the restoration of Korova. A census is taken every five years.

The largest ancestry groups in Korova include, but are not limited to, Novayans, Kalmovites, Yeizhka, and Ad' Cane. Korova is culturally and ethnically a minority-majority country: 27% of the population are Novayan, 19% Kalmovite, 18% Ad' Cane, 12% Yeizhka, 9% Nazkiy, 4% Louha, and 8% Other groups. Korovans also exist as a large refugee population in other countries, such as Severnye Ostrova, Norvesk, Malar-Malenansk, and Sentonzh. It is estimated there are as many as 1,700,000 refugees globally.

Language

Korovan is the de facto language of Korova. Approxiamtely 62% of the population speaks Korovan as a first language, with 18% speaking Kýrovskan and 12% speaking Yeizkha as their first languages. The remaining 8% speaks an array of local and neighbouring languages as their first, including but not limited to Nazkiy Pidgin, Pridaniy, and Ostrovan.

Korova has a notoriously poor rate of learning non-Korovan languages due to the lack of education and availability of other-language resources as a result of the Korovan Anarchy.

Religion

The plurality of Korova's population is Messianist, with 29% identifying as Laurentists, 13% identifying as Courantists, and 4% identifying as other denominations. Old Pagan faiths, primarily Borseanic and Thaunicca, are adhered to by 15% of the population while Ad' Cane Revivalism is a growing neo-pagan faith in Korova and is adhered to by 12% of the population. 3% of the population identify as adherents to Other faiths, while 24% identify as atheist or non-religious.

Surveys indicate that religion plays a "very important role" to roughly 57% of religious Korovans, with Courantists and Borseanic Pagans being identified as the most devout faith adherents in Korova. The number of irreligious people in Korova is steadily rising, showing a decline of the religious spike caused as a result of the Korovan Anarchy.
