Saint-Maurice (Baptistois Creole: Sen Mòris) is one of the six parishes of Saint-Baptiste. Located in the country's more mountainous north, the parish is considered one of the island's more rural regions, and retains agriculture as the largest employer in the area. Historically, Saint-Maurice has been called the "Sugar Basket of Saint-Baptiste", and the parish still maintains some of the largest sugar plantations and operations in the country.
The parish is noted for its hilly terrain and lack of sandy beaches, which has deterred tourism development in the area. Saint-Maurice's population is the lowest of the parishes, with a total population of 1,460 in 2018.
