The Athar Aviation Athar C-7 Alce (English: Moose) is a twin engine medium sized tactical transport aircraft designed for use by the Imperial Air Force of Temuair. It is configured to serve as both a tactical transport for combat forces vehicles, light helicopters, and cargo as well as an aerial refueling aircraft.
Development and design
The Athar C-7 was conceived as a replacement for the order Athar transport models in service. In addition, the nations lack of aerial refueling aircraft necessitated that an aircraft possessing this ability be developed.
The Athar C-7 was built with rugged operation in mind, and its ruggedized landing gear allows the KC-390 to take-off from or land on any hard and flat surface, including dirt airstrips typical of front line bases. In addition, the aircraft nose features a downward sweeping design, allowing for better filed of view for pilots when landing, taxiing, or taking off. Its spacious cargo ramp and bay area were designed to facilitate the rapidly loading or unloading of forces, vehicles or supplies from the aircraft.
The aircraft also features some of the exceptional avionic systems for a transport aircraft, including ballistic protection of vital areas, including the cockpit and fuel tanks, the potential for the addition of a comprehensive countermeasure system, fly-by-wire systems for precise handling, heads up displays and complete control sets for both pilot and copilot, night vision compliant systems, Dachaidh satellite navigation uplink, and a specialized system allowing for automatic opening of the aircraft's cargo doors and release of material for precise airdrops.
