Eeriel
Demographics
Language
Eeriel's national language is, officially, English. Rather than a true national language, Eeriel's solution is to mandate a common language that each resident must know along with their choice of three other languages that each child is taught growing up. Though the common language taught to each child for ease of access to visitors is English, the language typically spoken varies from region to region. The most common languages learned aside from regions native languages and English are Russian, Greek, Latin, Hebrew, and Native Eereekan. Native Eereekan has been lauded as the best language to let your voice be heard by their goddess, and as such is mandatory knowledge that is used almost exclusively in religious events.
People
Despite it's size Eeriel is home to a relatively small populace, far spread apart and typically nomadic. It is home to 326 social regions that can vary from small traveling family groups to large townships that can reach up to 2 million. According to the most recent census they have 10 million citizens.
Religion
The people of Eeriel are housed under one central religion, The Church of Nora. The Church of Nora is defined by their patron Goddess, Nora. Nora is a skeletal Goddess of darkness, decay, and kept secrets. Any sacrifices made to her are made by the sacrifice of secrets, spoken to her directly in Eereekan to an Altar. A heavily religious nation knowledge has become a form of currency to them, trading food, goods, and housing for stories of passing communities travels. Although a legitimate method using secrets as currency is only for desperate times typically, as those willing to give up a sacrifice of knowledge to their goddess are seen as lesser than those who would barter, pay, or lay hope in the kindness of a brother. It has been recognized as a felony to tell lies punishable by tooth removal. As one tells more and more lies, they will find themselves in the predicament of not being able to pass on verbal story. This is seen as the highest form of punishment, on a social, economic, and religious level. It is equal to cutting off all connection to their Goddess and any protection she would afford them.
