The SLG-47 (In French: Système de Lance-Grenades 47mm), is a 47mm mortar. It is typically used by a platoon's weapons squad as organic indirect fire support when encountering ATGM teams, marksmen, and machine gun positions. It fires a number of high-explosive, parachute illumination, smoke and white prosperous rounds at a rate of fire from anywhere from 15 to 30 rounds per minute. The mortar uses a unique gas regulation system, in which the operator for the mortar, instead of angling the system will simply select a preset range on the gas regulation knob, which is labeled in increments of 100 meters, then the crew pulls on the trigger which fires the weapon. This allows the weapon to be transported with a round in the tube, allowing for rapid firing on any hostile position when engaged, or when beginning an engagement. This allows the mortar to be easily operated by any squad member with minimal training and effort involved. A well trained and drilled crew can fire 15-20 rounds in a minute with a circular error probable, or CEP, of 3-4 meters.

While being simple to use in the field, it is considered fairly complex to maintain and expensive to purchase. Typically an infantry company has 3 mortars allocated to a mortar platoon which support the rifle platoons.
