A presidential election was held in the Pomeroon in November 2020. The first round took place on Wednesday 4 November with a second, run-off round to take place on Wednesday 18 November if required. As incumbent Diederik Boer won an absolute majority of 51% of the vote, a run-off election did not take place. This made Boer only the second president to be re-elected in the first round without the need for a run-off election.
In the first round, voters chose between six candidates who qualified for the elections either by gathering 50,000 signatures from the public or 10 signatures from members of the Volksraad (parliament). Incumbent president Diederik Boer, running for re-election for his second and last term, finished first with 51.0%, followed by Pomeroon People's Party Secretary-General Tian van Nuil who received 37.2%.
At 56.2%, turnout was the lowest in history for a presidential election.
