The State Inspections Agency (Veltrian: Valsts Inspekcijas Aģentūra) (commonly referred to as The Agency, the SIA, and informally, the Eyes of the Republic) is the oldest continually existing Veltrid Magisterial service, and operates as an internal security, intelligence, and secret police force under Unitist administration in the Sanctified Republic of Veltria. Charged with the security of Veltria's Unitist political system, the SIA traces its linage back to the Hasidji of the ancient Veltrid Kritarchy - an order of Astąhvist judges established in the 2nd century B.C.E. that served as an investigatory body to identify and root out heretical movements. Since the 1956 Unitist Revolution (and the subsequent restructuring of Veltria's intelligence services), the scope of the modern SIA's mission has expanded to secure the country against subversive political threats to national unity and regime integrity. The SIA is unique among its other departmental counterparts not only in its investigatory and security duties, but also in its capacity to adjudicate issues of morality enforcement, and more controversially, coordinate the country's nationwide apparatus (in conjunction with the Citizens Vigilant) for the enforcement of Astąhvist social doctrine among the Veltrian public.
