The Royal Household of Belfras is an organisation whose primary function is to provide aid and support to the royal family and primarily the Sovereign Prince of Belfras. The Household provides the logistical, administrative and advisory backbone needed for the Sovereign Prince to execute his royal duties as the head of state and supreme commander of the Belfrasian Armed Forces. The household is under the direct authority of the Sovereign Prince who personally selects the Head of Household, Secretary-General, and Chief of the Military Staff to administrate the household on his behalf.

The household as a whole also provides support to visiting dignitaries to the nation and controls a regiment-sized military force that is augmented with personnel to man the Households aircraft and seacraft. It is also responsible for the protection of the royal family along with the maintenance and security of it's properties, all of which are defacto owned by the royal family.

Organizational structure

Head of the Household

The Head of the Household is responsible for over all operation and management of departments held within the Royal Household. The position is the Monarch's most senior personal advisor and is a member of both the Privy Council and Council of Ministers. The head of the household is the primary channel of communication between the Sovereign Prince and various government departments aside from the office of the Consul which reports directly to the monarch. The position has it's own office with a number of assistants to enable smooth execution of duties. Throughout it's history, the head of the household has been held by a number of highly respected individuals, from former consuls to diplomats and retired military officers. One stipulation in the constitution forces the position to be held by a civilian, as the Chief of the Military Staff is responsible for the military staff in the household.

The Diplomatic Advisor closely monitors international relations and developments, working with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and trade to advise the Head of the household and the monarch on matters pertaining to international relations.

The Financial Advisor is responsible for the accounting department of the household to prepare annual budgets for all departments in the household and to manage the royal family's finances. He recommends accountants to the Royal Mint and members of the royal family.

General Secretariat

The Secretary General of the Royal Household is the deputy head of the household and is responsible for the operations of it's services with the exception of the Diplomatic and Financial Advisors as they and their offices report directly to the head of the household. The Secretary General is the head of a management team which is made up of the heads of the departments the secretariat is divided into. In 1972 liaison offices were added to the secretariat for cooperation with law enforcement bodies throughout the country.

The Royal Security Service is responsible for the royal family's immediate security. The RSS is led by a Colonel and staffed by hand chosen personnel from the national police and armed forces. It works closely with the National Police's Protection Bureau and Special Operations Bureau to provide armed escorts during travel, providing uniformed security to royal residences, inspecting event areas and providing specialised weapons support such as snipers or tactical response units.

The Administration and Infrastructure service provides two vital services to the household. Whereas the Financial Advisor is responsible for the finances of the royal family, the AIS is responsible for the wages of the staff of the household. It's second duty is to manage the maintenance of royal residences or facilities that support the royal household. When the quartermasters office merged with the AIS in 2007 it now manages and maintains the fleet of vehicles, aircraft and ships owned by the royal household.

The Press, communications and support office is a unified service that provides support to the members of the royal family's offices and secretaries. It is also responsible for coordinating and organising official activities by the royal family which includes overseas visits, personal holidays and other needs the royal family may need. Finally, the PCSO is also responsible for maintaining contacts with professionals in the media to inform them of official activities of the royal family.

Military Staff

The Chief of the Military Staff is responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the military staff and assisting the monarch in the performance of duties as the Supreme Commander of the armed forces. He is also responsible, along with the Royal Security Service, for providing and maintaining security at all royal residences. The Royal Guard, an elite military unit, is a part of the military staff.

The military staff is commanded by a highly ranked military officer appointed personally by the Sovereign Prince. The Chief of the Royal Guard, also appointed personally by the Sovereign Prince, is the second in command of the military staff and typically holds the rank of colonel. The Military Staff are responsible for advising the Sovereign Prince on military matters, preparing his schedule for military events and the Military Council, the highest body in the armed forces, is a part of the military staff with it's head being the Chief of the Military Staff.

The Military Council is the highest body in the Armed Forces and is staffed by the heads of each branch and their aides-de-camp. It deals with the administration of the nation's military and is headed personally by the Chief of the Military Staff, who in his capacity in the Military Council is the Chief of the Military Council.

The Royal Aide-de-camp is a senior military figure hand-picked by the Sovereign Prince to advise him on all military matters. Holders of the position can form a communications bridge between the Chief of the Military Staff and the Sovereign Prince and be considered a second source of opinion for the Sovereign Prince.

The Royal Guard is an independent regiment of the armed forces dedicated to the protection of the Sovereign Prince and members of the royal family. The primary function of the Royal Guard is providing military security for the Monarchy. In addition to it's primary role of protecting the royal family, the royal guard provides protection of foreign heads of state and government visiting Belfras and providing security to royal residences. The Royal Guard works hand-in-hand with the Royal Security Service and National Police which provides uniformed security. The Royal Guard, being an active military unit, do not have powers of arrest or jurisdiction to enforce the law. The Royal Guard also includes staff for the Households aircraft and seacraft.
