The Democratic Republic of Vardocalifar, commonly known as Vardocalifar is a democratic socialist republic located in South Bardolocin. It is an island nation made up of a mainland and three other islands, Barakoa, M'nitawi, and K'loata. Vardocalifar has a population of 197 million and a total land area of 121,000 square kilometers. The capital and largest city is Velorus on the mainland. Other large cities including Mitawa, the capital of K'loata, and Karawito, the capital of Barakoa.
Vardocalifar was originally inhabited by groups of Vardoklefian tribes who likely came by boat from neighboring Batawa in the 11th century BCE. Vardocalifar was then colonized by the Albertarian Empire under King Albert IV in 1152 CE and was ruled by the imperial throne as a colony under successive monarchs. Unlike in other colonies, the Albertarian occupying force existed peacefully alongside the native Vardoklefians, and the Treaty of Bernard, which set out the agreements for co-rule by the empire and Vardoklefians was signed in 1403. The colony was given partial independence in 1896 as a crown dominion under the rule of Queen Alexandria XIV of the Albertarian Empire, which continued until 1932, when the dominion declared full independence as Vardocalifar, replacing the Queen with a president in a unitary semi-presidential republic.
Vardocalifar currently operates as per the 1932 constitution, with a high degree of economic, military, and cultural centralization. It is known globally for its renowned cave art and its innovative technologies. Vardocalifar was a founding nation of the Bardolocin Economic and Security Treaty Organization (BESTO) along with it's close ally Berdonea.
