History

Prehistory

The are was settled by natives tribes. Around 100 BC Proto Slavic migration began in the area and the natives were wiped out.

Climate

Under the Köppen climate classification scheme, coastal regions are characterized by a cold as fuck (Csa). Further inland, a cold as balls (Csb) is more common. At the highest elevation locations and to the north, areas with a fucking cold can be found.

The station of vadiosk records the highest year-round temperatures of Volsk with an annual average of 1.41 °C over the 1981–2010 period. Sunshine hours are not available for the same period but this was 1000 h for 2008–2016.
