The Lord High Council is the highest political council in Belfras, consisting of the highest ranking members of nobility and officials appointed by the Sovereign Prince Nicholaus, who has held the position of head of state and chief executive in the Federation since his coronation on 19 April 1980. It is the highest level of decision-making and legislation-making in the government with the Belfrasian monarch personally chairing meetings, which are held by the Lord Chancellor in his absence. The Lord High Council was brought into existence when the Federation became self-governing at the start of the 20th century.
